18 January 2026A touchscreen on a Vending machine is an interactive display that replaces the conventional keypad. It serves as the user interface for product selection, displaying ingredients and controlling the purchasing process.
Function and area of use
The touchscreen acts as the interface between people and the machine. It allows modern menu navigation, similar to a smartphone. Customers can swipe through product categories, enlarge pictures and view detailed nutritional or allergen information, which is becoming increasingly important under food labelling law (FIC).
Areas of use are mainly premium vending machines in modern offices, airports or hotels. In addition to the pure sales function, the touchscreen can also be used for advertising (digital signage): while the vending machine is not actively in use, videos or offers can be played, which can generate additional advertising revenue.
The touchscreen also enables “shopping basket” functions, where customers can select several products and pay for them in a single transaction, a major advantage for revenue per customer.

- Modern, high-quality customer experience (user experience)

Technical details
Capacitive touchscreens (PCAP), which also respond to light touches, are usually used. Sizes typically range from 7 inches to 22 inches or more. The displays are often fitted with toughened protective glass (IK class) to prevent vandalism.
