17 January 2026A drinks vending machine is a Vending machine for automatically dispensing cold or hot drinks in bottles, cans or cups. Customers serve themselves without service staff.
Function and area of use
Drinks vending machines come in two main variants: cold drinks vending machines for bottles and cans, and hot drinks vending machines for coffee, tea and cocoa. Cold drinks vending machines have an integrated cooling system that keeps the temperature constant between 4 and 8 °C. After product selection, the bottle or can is dispensed via a spiral mechanism or gravity system. Hot drinks vending machines prepare drinks fresh by heating water and mixing it with powder or beans.
They are used primarily in places with high footfall: office complexes, production halls, hospitals, waiting areas, railway stations, swimming pools and sports venues. Drinks vending machines cover spontaneous thirst and replace expensive drinks delivery services. Modern units offer 20–60 different drinks and can store individual customer preferences via RFID cards.
Telemetry systems monitor stock levels, cooling temperature and sales statistics in real time. Automatic alerts inform operators about low stock or faults. Integration into billing systems enables cashless payment via employee ID cards or company apps.
