Buying a pizza vending machine: costs, location and operation
28 September 2026“How much does a vending machine like this cost?” is almost always the first question in a consultation. The short answer: between around €3,500 and €25,000 net, depending on the type and equipment. On top of that come running costs, which are underestimated in many calculations. Here you will find an overview of both, plus the common ways of financing.

What determines the price
The biggest differences come from the dispensing technology and the temperature range. A classic spiral vending machine is cheaper than a unit with a lift that dispenses glass bottles or fresh food gently. Freezing, heating modules and ovens drive up the price, as do large touchscreens, outdoor housings, master-slave combinations or wrapping in your own design. When comparing quotations, always ask what is included: payment system, telemetry, delivery and spare parts are not included in the price by every provider.
Running costs at a glance
Monthly costs depend heavily on the unit and the location. These items belong in every calculation:
- Electricity: A refrigerated Snack vending machine needs considerably less energy than a freezer or pizza vending machine with an oven. Calculate using the power consumption from the data sheet, your electricity price and realistic running times. In summer, the compressor runs longer.
- Cashless payment: Card terminals involve a one-off acquisition cost. In addition, there is usually a monthly basic fee and a fee per payment, often around 1 percent of revenue.
- Telemetry: For remote monitoring and card payment, the vending machine needs a data connection. With a SIM card, this incurs a monthly charge.
- Location: A fixed monthly rent or a percentage share of revenue is common. Both are negotiable.
- Insurance: Protection against theft, vandalism, electronic damage and liability claims, especially at outdoor locations.
- Maintenance and cleaning: Time for cleaning and checks, plus an occasional technician and wear parts.
- Goods and restocking: Cost of goods, journeys and working time. For fresh food, write-offs for expired products come on top.
- Financing: Lease payments, if you do not buy directly.
Buy or lease?
Direct purchase
With a direct purchase, the vending machine is yours from day one, and no interest is incurred. The acquisition is depreciated over its useful life. This option pays off if sufficient liquidity is available.
Leasing
With leasing, you pay fixed monthly instalments after a down payment, preserving your liquidity. The instalments can usually be claimed as business expenses. The leasing company checks your creditworthiness in advance. At the end of the contract, depending on the agreement, you return the vending machine, extend the lease or take it over.
In the VendSpot shop, you buy directly. On direct request, we can agree a 50% down payment and 50% balance before delivery. We arrange leasing on request through our partner leasing companies, which always requires a 50% down payment. Which option is more favourable for you in terms of tax is best discussed with your tax adviser. More on this on our page Financing.
Sample calculation: when does a snack vending machine pay for itself?
A simplified calculation for a snack and drinks vending machine with a purchase price of €8,000 net. The values are assumptions, not a forecast. Location and range are decisive.
| Sales per day | 25 |
| Average gross profit per sale | €0.90 |
| Gross profit per month (30 days) | €675 |
| Running costs per month | €200 |
| Surplus per month | €475 |
| Calculated payback period | around 17 months |
At 50 sales per day, the payback period in the same calculation falls to around seven months. The location therefore has a greater influence on profitability than the purchase price.
How to find the right vending machine
Before making an enquiry, put together three things: the location with power connection and floor space, the planned range and the expected visitor footfall. This makes it quick to narrow down which type of vending machine fits and which financing makes sense. You can read which registrations are required before you start in our guide Vending machine setting up.
