Locker system

A locker system is an installation of several lockable compartments for the secure storage of personal belongings. Modern systems rely on electronic management instead of mechanical keys.

Function and area of use

Locker systems are used for the temporary storage of bags, valuables or clothing. While coin-deposit locks used to dominate, modern systems now use PIN pads, RFID readers (for gym wristbands) or central terminals. The system controls the locking electronically and monitors how long each locker is occupied.

Locations include sports venues, schools, universities, railway stations, shopping centres and museums. In companies, they are increasingly used as “day lockers” where employees can store their valuables securely during working hours without a fixed desk.

Central management software allows lockers to be blocked automatically when the time limit is exceeded or opened centrally for cleaning. This considerably reduces the administrative effort for the operator.

Advantages

• High security for users thanks to electronic monitoring
• No risk of losing mechanical keys
• Central management and evaluation of locker use
• Easy payment of usage fees at the terminal
• Robust design against break-ins and vandalism
• Look can be adapted to the architecture of the location
• Reduced liability risks for the operator

Technical details
