Lift system (lift vending machine)
2 October 2026DEX interface
2 October 2026MDB (multi-drop bus) is the standard through which a Vending machine communicates with coin changers, banknote readers, card terminals and other payment devices.
Function and area of use
Via the MDB interface the payment device tells the vending machine how much money has been received or whether a card payment has been approved. The vending machine then dispenses the goods and reports the sale back. Because almost all manufacturers use this standard, payment devices from different brands can be combined and retrofitted.
When buying a vending machine or a payment system, check whether both support MDB. Older units without MDB may need an adapter.
Advantages
- Free choice of coin changer, Banknote reader and card terminal
- Easy retrofitting of cashless payment
- Standard across the entire vending industry
Frequently asked questions
