Vending machine installation permit

The installation permit is the legal permission to operate a vending machine at a specific location. A distinction is made between private-law agreements and public-law permits.

Function and area of use

On private land (e.g. company premises, a supermarket car park), a private-law placement agreement with the owner is sufficient. In public spaces (pavements, squares), however, a special use permit from the town or municipal administration is mandatory. Without this permit, fines and forced removal of the vending machine may follow.

The process usually includes checking escape routes, fire safety regulations and townscape protection. Dimensional drawings and photos of the location speed up the approval process, and we are happy to provide the technical data of the vending machine for this.

Advantages

• Legal certainty for long-term operation of the location
• Avoiding fines and removal costs
• Clear rules on liability and electricity costs in the agreement
• Professionalism towards authorities and landlords
• Basis for taking out vending machine insurance
• Protection against competitors through exclusive site rights
• Documentation of compliance with safety regulations

Technical details

The permit often includes requirements on maximum footprint (usually 1 m²), power supply and minimum clearance for pedestrians (usually 1.50 m).
