2 October 2026A Banknote reader checks banknotes at the vending machine for authenticity and value and accepts them as payment.
Function and area of use
The customer inserts the note into the slot, the reader checks it with optical and magnetic sensors and reports the amount via the MDB interface to the vending machine. Unrecognised or damaged notes are returned. Change is paid out by the coin changer .
Banknote readers make sense at locations with a lot of cash payment and higher prices, for example on pizza, frozen food or e-cigarette vending machines. The software must be kept up to date so that new banknote series are recognised.
