18 January 2026A Micro market is an open, unattended self-service area in a company, consisting of shelves, refrigerated display cases and a central payment terminal (kiosk).
Function and area of use
Digital signage refers to the use of digital screens on vending machines to display advertising, product information or interactive content.
Micro markets offer a greater product variety than classic vending machines and create a “marketplace atmosphere”. Employees simply take the goods from the shelf and scan them at the self-checkout terminal. This system is ideal for closed company sites with 100 or more employees, as it requires trust but offers a much better canteen experience.
Modern vending machines use large touchscreens not only for sales but also as advertising space. While the vending machine is not in use, videos or offers can be played. This generates additional advertising revenue for the operator and increases attention at the location.
