Coffee vending machine

A Coffee vending machine is a Hot drinks vending machine for automatically preparing coffee, espresso, cappuccino and other speciality coffees at the push of a button, without a barista.

Function and area of use

Coffee vending machines work with two technologies: instant systems use soluble coffee powder, while fresh brew systems grind and extract whole beans. After the drink is selected, the vending machine doses powder or beans, heats water to 85–95 °C and brews the coffee directly into the cup. Milk systems produce milk foam for cappuccino and latte macchiato.

Coffee vending machines are indispensable in offices, workshops, hospitals, hotels and waiting areas. They replace expensive barista services and offer consistent quality at minimal operating costs. One vending machine serves 20–200 people daily and produces 80–400 cups per day.

Modern units offer 8–25 drink variants from espresso to chai latte. Telemetry systems monitor bean levels, cleaning cycles and usage statistics. Billing integration enables free coffee for staff or pay-per-cup via RFID.

Bean systems deliver better taste and a lower cost per cup (€0.15–0.30). Powder systems need less maintenance and are cheaper to buy.
